We put together a contract for you to review & sign, and we require a non-refundable deposit of 20%. The remaining balance is due the date of the wedding. In between that time, you can reach out anytime to ask help with planning your itinerary, advice on the best way to structure your day, or just to chat.
I know this is a weird FAQ question, but we hear this a lot. You're doing your research, and one photographer costs twice (or half) (or triple) (or more or less) the others. It's confusing, and that's not fair. So here's the breakdown: the cost of wedding photo and video is based off of four main things.
1. The experience of the photo/video team. Like any craft, the longer you're at it, the better you are: not just at the craft itself but at anticipating issues and concerns; working with the client and all of the other hands on deck (vendors / family / etc.) and a good photographer or videographer becomes an asset to the experience... way beyond simply taking pictures or videos. Read Google testimonials, you'll see.
2. The quality of work. This one's up to you to discern, but pricing is partially based off of the quality of one's work in comparison with their peers and competitors. Like all things in life, "more expensive" doesn't mean "better" and "less expensive" doesn't mean "worse" but there is a general range of pricing based on the end result of the products. (I do hate thinking of wedding photos and videos as products, but it's the money talk time.)
3. The package you purchase. Consider what's included and what's not included. With us, you receive everything outright. Although we love you, you really never should need to call us again: all printing rights are given to you with photos and videos in high resolution, total privacy protections in your hands, and a boatload of digital access and sharing opportunities. In a budget training workshop we used to teach, we talked about "last cost sensitivity", which means (essentially) sometimes you spend more upfront and less in the long run. Make sure you're asking good questions.
4. You're seeing the tip of the ice/ice/...berg... baby. We work hard to give you a seamless, stunning experience - but it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears behind the scenes.
Yes, absolutely! Although John and Sam book up on a first/come - first/serve basis, we do have team shooters who do an excellent job and will join us at weddings if required.
We offer incentives when you book on referral or through one of our trusted vendors (a larger album! extra prints!) but we don't offer cash discounts for on-season weddings (May to December). We do charge tax and we remit HST to the CRA quarterly. #freehealthcare
Usually, no, not with our style of shooting and years of experience. But there are three circumstances where we do recommend hiring a second shooter:
1. The couple are getting ready at the exact same time (overlapping hair and makeup, too), and you want full preparation coverage of both (instead of a few staged photos later in the day), and you want to do a first look. Literally one of those "can't be in two places at once" scenarios. This lends best to weddings with two brides.
2. Your wedding ceremony is in tight quarters; so tight that one photographer won’t be able to move back and forth from one side of the ceremony to the other. Think: small rural chapels that hold only 50 guests but you’re squeezing in 75 guests anyway; boathouses; actual boats; some downtown Toronto locations that are basically the size of a Bachelor apartment yet somehow operate as a hip venue everyone wants to get married at. YOU KNOW WHICH ONES I MEAN. They're cool tho.
3. Your wedding guest count is over 200 and you want extensive guest coverage because you love every single one of your guests dearly. Typically with 1 photographer we allocate 45 minutes to 1 hour during the cocktail hour for guest coverage & photos with the Couple mingling with their guests. This works great for guest lists of 200 or less. However, with more than 200 guests, two photographers will be more suitable for extensive coverage.
